During the wet season, herds are generally kept within forested areas (including many protected spaces). Most of the areas near transhumance routes are being cultivated for agriculture during this time and forests offer a refuge. Herders generally will try to avoid agricultural areas to avoid potential conflict with farmers.

During the dry season , herds will use transhumance corridors, heading to pasture zones.
